Llanwenog Sheep Fleece

All of our ewes are dagged out before shearing and belly wool is removed from our fleeces.

The National Sheep Assocation book British Sheep says of the Llanwenog...

The wool is considered to be among the finest in the UK with a Bradford Count of 56/58 and a staple length of 7.5cm. Fleeces average 2.5kg. Main uses have been for hand knitting, tweeds and hosiery while more recently the wool has earned a high reputation with hand spinners.
